Andy MerschAndy Mersch has been teaching, performing, and writing music around the greater Cincinnati area for over a decade. Currently, he is a sales and project manager at Event Enterprises, a Cincinnati-based full-service event production and management company. In addition to working in the office to develop business relationships and coordinate jobs, Andy also works on-site at events all over the region as an equipment technician and audio engineer.

From 2011 to 2014, Andy was percussion director at Elder High School, where he instructed, wrote and designed for marching band, concert band and indoor drumline. He also teaches private lessons to students of all ages and skill levels. Previously, Andy was the percussion director for Turpin High School, where he led the indoor drumline to a first-place finish at TriState Circuit championships and the second highest score in circuit history. Andy has also worked at Glen Este High School and Middle School, Conner High School and Middle School, Lloyd Memorial High School, and Highlands High School. From 2007-2009, Andy was an instructor and clinician at the Greater Cincinnati Marching Percussion Clinic.

In 2006,  Andy went on tour with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps of Toledo, Ohio, the then Drum Corps International world finalist ensemble. Throughout the tour, he performed more than 50 times in five different countries, as well as learned from DCI standouts Chris Hestin (currently the percussion caption for Spirit of Atlanta) and Rudy Garcia (currently the quad technician for the Concord Blue Devils), who both played a major role in Andy’s development as a musician.

Andy earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Education from Northern Kentucky University. While at NKU, Andy honed his skills as a performer and educator under the percussion direction of Scott Lang. He also studied privately with Richard Jensen, the associate principal percussionist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. With Mr. Jensen, Andy finessed his advanced technique of a wide range of instruments including marimba, timpani, xylophone, and multi percussion. While at NKU, Andy was a member of symphonic winds and was also invited to perform with the Kentucky Intercollegiate Symphony.

Andy teaches private lessons to students of all ages and skill levels. He also runs a percussion repair service specializing in repair and restoration of concert and marching percussion equipment.
